| Nordic Institute for Dental Materials The Nordic Institute for Dental Materials - now incorporated as NIOM a.s. and owned jointly by the University of Oslo and the Norwegian Ministry of Health - was founded to meet a need for the quality control of dental restorative and prosthetic materials that were launched with bewildering frequency on the Nordic dental market. Since its establishment by the Nordic Council of Ministers (NMR) in 1972, NIOM has built up a strong research and technical staff with a balance of clinical and scientific backgrounds to perform this role through the testing and review of products.
