Public Service Review: Transport

The latest edition of Public Service Review: Transport is now online, beginning with an excellent foreword by Secretary General of the International Transport Forum Carole Coune.

Several transport policy areas such as aviation, rail, green transport, cycling, roads, intelligent transport systems and shipping are covered in detail. Patrick Vankerckhoven, Head of the Marco Polo Unit at EACI, highlights the environmental and financial benefits of taking road freight to water and rail routes.

In a major special feature, a panel of experts respond to the question 'What next for the aviation industry?' In addition, Director of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work Dr. Christa Sedlatschek outlines ways in which risks to drivers in the road transport sector should be reduced.

There is also a large focus on green transport, with a number of stimulating articles on fuel cell and hydrogen technology, electric mobility and cycling. President of the European Cyclists' Federation Manfred Neun details the steps necessary to get more people across Europe to take up cycling.
